One of the many jobs that a certified respiratory therapist is tasked with is taking care of a hospital’s oxygen and other medical gas systems. Depending on their specialization, they may also be called upon to assist in the intensive care unit or even during open heart surgery. All in all, it’s a very fulfilling and lucrative career.
To get started on this career path, you first have to undergo training at either a brick and mortar school or through an online certification course. If your schedule is too full, you can opt to go with the latter since it lets you take the classes at your own leisure.
Once you’ve finished your course, you can then take the certification exam required by your state. This comes in the form of a two-part test that includes both a written portion and a practical simulation where you have to come face to face with real-life patient situations.
